Is a Celebrancy Ceremony Legally binding? The short answer is – as current UK legislation stands – No. You will either have to have married legally in a Registry Office or a recognised place licensed for marriage. 

Often, couples do the legal paperwork prior to their tailored celebrancy ceremony on the same day – finishing on something that truly reflects them as a couple!

Can we just have a Commitment Ceremony? ABSOLUTELY! If you want to commit to each other as long-term partners without going down the legal route, civil celebrancy is perfect for you!

Why bother with a Celebrant then? Because there are certain words that have to be said in a Register Office ceremony, you cannot write your own vows or deviate from a script – these must be said to make the marriage legal. With a celebrancy ceremony from Make A Vow, you can incorporate your own vows and  readings. Sometimes it’s hard not to feel like you’re on a conveyor belt at a Registry Office, as they conduct short ceremonies with lots of couples in one day.

Can we have a ceremony wherever we want? You can pretty much have your ceremony anywhere in a location that is special to you – and more than likely at a time to suit you too. Most Registry Offices have a limited number of time slots available and can sometimes be quite impersonal.
